Description2 HOURS OF EXTRA EXCLUSIVE CONTENT – Prepare the glory for the Blu-ray and dive into the experience of 300 like never before. Amazon. comLike Sin City before it, 300 brings Frank Miller and Lynn Varley’s graphic novel vividly to life. Gerard Butler (Beowulf and Grendel, The Phantom of the Opera) radiates pure power and charisma as Leonidas, the Greek king of Sparta who leads 300 of his compatriots (including David Wenham of The Lord of the Rings, Michael Fassbender, and Andrew Pleavin) in a battle against the overwhelming force of Persian invaders. Their only hope is to neutralize the numerical advantage by confronting the Persians, led by King Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), at the narrow pass of Thermopylae. More engaging than Troy, the epic warm and somewhat similar to ancient Greece, 300 is also comparable to Sin City in that the actors were shot on green screen, then added to digitally created backgrounds. The effort pays off in a very stylish look and immense battle scenes large. However, it is not as literally faithful to the source material Miller’s Sin City was. The plot is the same, and many images of the book are represented almost perfectly. But some extra material has been added, including new villains (who would be considered “bosses” if this were a video game, and it often feels like one) and a political subplot involving new characters and a significantly expanded role for the queen of Sparta (Lena Headey). While this subplot by director Zack Snyder (Dawn of the Dead) and his fellow co-authors do not break the violence, most fans would probably dismiss it as filler if it did not include the sexy Headey. Other viewers, of course, will be turned off by the waves of spurting blood, flying body parts, and surging testosterone. (The six-pack abs are also relentless, and the film has more or less nudity – more female, less male – than the graphic novel.) However, as a representation of Miller’s work and as an old film of action with the theme of a modern edge, 300 delivers. – David Horiuchi

. . . Good, I feel obliged to say a few things about the 300 self-Aggrandizer dissertations. To organize my discussion, I propose that we take a step backwards in the causal chain and to embark on a new path towards change. What I mean is that I have a tendency to say things most sensational 300 is to give the most shocking things, things like how he wants to call evil good and good. And I realize the difficulty the average person coming in after that, but when he insists that we have no reason to be afraid of violent crime trends in our society today ‘ Today and over the last ten to fifteen years, reality dictates otherwise. In fact, if you want a real dose of reality, look how far as namby-pamby is concerned, none of the 300′s devotees hold a candle to her. What I blame society for this? No, I do not blame 300. Do not waste your time or money on this sorry excuse for what should have been a great film. If you want to understand what really happened with the 300 and other Greeks in this battle watch “The 300 Spartans” or History Channel documentary about the 300 Spartans instead. They are available on Amazon and are much better. Spartans were very proud fighters and were extremely proud of their armor. They did not fight half-naked without their armor. Zerker do not have a bunch of beads and such hanging from his face and do not go around half naked either. The Greeks and the Persians were proud people. To view them as was done in this film is a disgrace. The fight scenes look like they came from Matrix or another world. Rating: 1 / 5
. . . The most disappointing film of 2007. Proves that style is no substitute for content. Rating: 1 / 5
