G. I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Posted by The Boxman On January - 9 - 2010

DescriptionBased on action figures hugely popular Hasbro, GI Joe is the ultimate elite fighting force, engaged in an extraordinary action adventure battle of good against evil! In GI Joe: Rise of Cobra, the GI Joe team, armed with the coolest hi-tech gadgets and weapons, traveled the world since the Egyptian desert to polar caps in a continuation high stakes of Cobra, an international organization evil threatening to use a technology that could lead the world to its knees. Amazon. ComThe Rise of Cobra is not your grandfather’s, GI Joe. It’s more like Joe CGI sequences with special effects explosive action, providing the film with a surplus of “Boom Boom Pow” (to quote the Black Eyed Peas song that leads the end credits). This blast from the past summer is very similar to the metal-munching missile nano-mites (literally) Mad Doctor (Joseph Gordon-Levitt cashing in some of its indie CRED) and McCullen, a Scottish arms dealer (Christopher Eccleston) threaten the free world. It never stops. Ever. The original GI Joe action figure was an all-American hero. These Joes are – All Together Now – “the best of the best”, a multi-multi elite national team. Two soldiers, Duke (a bit of Channing Tatum), a “field in the” fight kind of guy, and Ripcord (Marlon Wayans), his wisecracking best friend, are saved by the Joes after they have taken ambush while transporting missiles. These are not regular Joes. Snake-Eyes (Ray Park) is a mute ninja, Stella (Rachel Nichols) a Brainiac bodacious, Heavy Duty (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) the imposition of specialized weapons, and Breaker (Saïd Taghamaoui) the techie. They are led by the gruff General Hawk (Dennis Quaid), who barks about lines like: “When all else fails, we do not,” with polish. Duke and Ripcord are recruited to join the unit closed after Duke discovers that Ana (Sienna Miller), his former girlfriend, is in cahoots with McCullen and now wears the grim nickname of the baroness, not to mention killer cleavage-enhancing outfits in latex. This is the first of a budding franchise, there are a lot of backstory to cover. Flashbacks back to 1641! But the agenda is an underground military command centers, underwater dens of evil, the shiny high-tech weapons, reckless prosecution, and cool gadgets, like a faster speed hydraulic costume. It’s enough to make you want to dust off your original figures or Hasbro, the studio hopes probably buy new ones. – Donald Liebenson Stills from GI Joe: Rise of Cobra (Click for larger image)

this movie is tooo epic for words. I went to see in theaters and was surprised how good it is. Marlon Wayans did a great job in this film, but the actor playing Duke sum needs acting lessons. the man showed no emotion in this film Rating: 5 / 5

Did he did not say a word and did a lot of chop-Socky.Autre than that, this movie was terrible. I love the fact that even if the character Parks’ Shadow (I think the character names) had no airtime, it’s bigger than the rest of the band on the cover. Of course, this shows that the company knew that my exposure assessment was correct and we hope that the public has not seen the movie in the theater will buy because they see a ninja “sorta” on the cover and I think he is the real star of the film “They make a movie about stupid games like” Battleship Astroid ‘and’ ‘that shows you how desperate Hollyweird is today.’ GI Joe ‘is on this strange piece aussi.Rating: 1 / 5

  5. This really deserves a Big Fat ZERO! The special effects were so bad that I didn’t know if I was watching a video game or a movie! Just horrible on all levels. Rating: 1 / 5
