Grease

Product DescriptionGenre: MusicalsRating: PGRelease Date: 5-May-2009Media Type: Blu-RayAmazon. com key videoRiding the strange ’50s nostalgia wave that swept America during the late 1970s (caused by TV shows like Happy Days and films like American Graffiti), Grease became not only the word in 1978, but also a box-office smash and a cultural phenomenon. Twenty years later, this entertaining film adaptation of the musical received another theatrical release success, which included visual remastering and a shiny new Dolby soundtrack. For its video and laser disc re-release, Grease lovers can also now see the good in Panavision aspect ratio 2:35 to 1, and see retrospective interviews with cast members and director Randal Kleiser. All these stylistic touches are essential to the success of the film. Without the, fabulously choreographed widescreen musical numbers, colors vibrant, and memorable tunes and catchy Campy (like “Greased Lightning,” “Summer Nights,” and “You’re the One That I Want”), the film could rely on a silly, cliché-filled plot that we’ve seen hundreds of times. As it is, the episodic story of romantic dilemmas experienced by a group of seniors graduate school remains fresh, fun, and incredibly imaginative. The young, animated cast also deserves much credit, bringing chemistry and energy to otherwise bland material. John Travolta, straight from his success in Saturday Night Fever, knows his sexual star power and struts, swaggers, sings and dances appropriately, while Olivia Newton-John’s portrait of virgin innocence is the only decent acting she’s ever done. And then there’s Stockard Channing, spouting sexual double-entenders Rizzo, the bitch leader Raunchy Pink Ladies, who steals the film’s two stars. • I already bought a film of grease and it has already been delivered to me. If you are over charge me and send me something I did not buy please give me my money. I ordered a bunch of movies from this site and I am not satisfied with the timing of their receipt or said they are not available at any given time, then be told, I have a confirmation control for this command. • Newton-John has lost his case (as usual) to try to get more money from this stupid movie. I suppose the courts do not think it is so great. Well. . . this movie is what the title says that is total trash. The reunion was a fat pile of old worn-out people trying to act young again, that was really pathetic. I hope that young people these days have something more to aspire to the idiots in this movie. Rating: 1 / 5

  • This video can not be produced in America: cars, large music, Greaseball and bleached-out white rock n roll ‘. I do not like musicals and my review will be colored accordingly. This film is as light as fluff sugar they eat at “Carnival” at the end. Not once could I connect with what was happening. Was this a high school or elementary school? Surely this must be a fantasy about what the 50s were like. With a little more bite fuck what might have been a great parody of Monty Python, but for me it’s just a film to digest quickly and forget all that. I suppose as a musical that has value and energy, but otherwise he had all the ingredients of these films nauseating American highschool. Rating: 1 / 5

  • The cult of the film must end. Firstly, I do not even think they deserved to use the name “Grease” because it bears so little resemblance to the Broadway show. Missing in the film are likeable characters Doody and Roger, replaced by a hybrid of the two named Putsy, which sits mostly in the background for the entire show. The songs of the two characters removed’S? “Those Magic Changes” basically becomes a melody of substance to the PROM, and I have no idea (can not remember) what happens to “Mooning,” but both songs lose their luster completely outside their original environment. It also leads to the removal of one of the best scenes throughout the room, where Roger proclaims himself the champion Mooning of Rydell High. Also deleted from the movie – “Alone at the Drive-In Movie” reduced an instrumental. It was a funny, goofy tune that fit well with the parodic nature of the original series. It is replaced by the 70′s sounds “Sandy” is overdramatic and too overworked to the scene. The amusing ” Alma Mater “is reduced to background music in the opening scenes.” Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee “is moved too high in the show in some really absurd film. it originates, at the end of the first act of the play, which makes more sense. And, worst of all, Greased Lightning is sung by Zuko, Kenickie and not, as in the play. It makes little sense. Singing for as Kenickie Zuko’s? The idea behind the original song was that Greased Lightning was a pile of shit that Kenickie thought, and laughed at because, for her song promising to transform it into a field. Very good, but changes aside, how is the movie? Again, not great. Scenes drag aimlessly for too long. Danny try sports could easily have been cut by 3 minutes. The gag was wearing thin. The length was correct Prom but very annoying, especially a vehicle for Travolta to show his dance. Yes, the game is a big “dance” scene too, but it is much too simple in the movie all that pleasant. Rizzo ” serious “scene is a bit lost in the film because it is unnecessarily taken to the drive-in and threw it aside minutes later, rather than being made to the game later, as in the game, and be a scene somewhat emotional. Both of the funniest scenes are deleted from the original. And even the melodrama is removed. The funny parts are not funny enough, serious things are too overdramatic for what this body of work was really – a parody of 50′s culture, music and life. Moreover, all the “students” in the film looked about 30 years. Most of them could not pass for high schoolers even with makeup and costumes. Sonny looked almost 35. Maybe if they had done a better job of wardrobe and makeup that could have been avoided. Overall, I think the only decent part OFTHIS film “Greased Lightning” for his dance moves. Other than that, it’s a soulless remake of a great show that does not make the original justice. PS I play Roger now in a local performance of grease. So I know from experience! Rating: 2 / 5

This is a classic for many people, including myself with great music, but we will talk about the entire film. It is extremely sexually explicit, indecent with refrences all the way through, it is so shocking that I do not buy the video because of the PG rating. I’ll save off the TBS or TNT. The uncut version on the same video on TNT, is rated TV-14 (which is still an understatement) and I still find it hard to watch. I am waiting for this movie on TBS to register because they do not change the content, and believe it or not TV, it is still considered-14! For this reason, I think “How can we consider the MPAA PG?” Great music, but I’m not going to watch a classic movie, dirty dirty whatsoever. Rating: 3 / 5
