Hancock

Product DescriptionAcademy Award ® nominee Will Smith (Best Actor, The Pursuit of Happyness, 2006) stars in this action-packed comedy as Hancock, sarcastic, hard living and misunderstood superhero who has fallen out of favor with the public. When Hancock grudgingly agrees to an extreme makeover from idealistic publicist Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman, Juno), his life and reputation rise from the ashes and all seems right again – until he meets a woman (2003 Academy Award ® winner Charlize Theron, Best Actress, Monster) with similar powers to his and the key to his secret past. Amazon. comHancock shooting the movie superhero standard inside-out: The main character (Will Smith) can fly, has superstrength, and is invulnerable, but it is also a sloppy, alcoholic jerk who causes millions of dollars in damage whenever he bothers to fight crime. When he saves the life of a PR agent named Ray (Jason Bateman, Arrested Development), Ray decides to improve Hancock’s image – starting by having Hancock surrender to the authorities and go to jail for his behavior anarchic. The idea is that once he is in prison, the crime rate will increase, and people will start realizing Hancock might be useful after all. This is only the first act of Hancock – from there the film takes several turns of mind that should not be revealed. Hancock is not a great movie (among other things, director Peter Berg abuse closeups with a portable device to a degree that may cause motion sickness), but it is extremely entertaining. The script, which is much better than most films of super-hero, has a propulsive plot, good dialogue, some compassion for his characters, and even an actual idea or two. The spectacular action at least gestures towards obeying the laws of physics, which actually makes the special effects more vivid. The three leads (Smith, Bateman and Charlize Theron as Ray’s wife, Mary) deftly balance mixture of film comedy, action and drama. Overall, a touch of subversion chip on a genre that too often takes itself too seriously. – Bret Fetzer Stills from Hancock (click for larger image)

  • The worst thing about this movie should be when the credits started rolling at the end of the film, and I just realized that almost 2 hours of my life had been torn from me as a handbag from an old lady, and there was no chance I’d never return. I would also like to say that there was probably a 50/50 chance that Will Smith was suspended with Amy Winehouse when he decided to enroll in this project. Rating: 1 / 5

  • I think that digital effects have taken over the role that sound quality and writing had been in the past. It is so easy to distinguish a digital effect in a movie these days that for me is just not ruin it. Will Smith is not one of my favorite actors and marginal performance here. It is increasingly difficult to find a decent film written today. Hollywood is constantly trying to remake classic telivision or older films rather than gamble on a well written script. This video is below marginal to me. What can you say for a film that is more special effects than the actual content? Scary. Rating: 1 / 5

  • The disc was no film – no disc – was the message I received about five DVD players I have. Sucks when you pay for something and do not understand! Rating: 1 / 5

  • The movie is great. The draw back is only if you bought the 2 disc Blu-ray Digital Copy on DVD is windows and PSP only. I suppose if I want to play on my Mac or iPod, I’ll get it from iTunes or buy the DVD and rip the movie with handbrake. Rating: 1 / 5
